Wu Shanzhuan Museum/DNA
In year 2007, China Art Institute has programmed 8 museums for 8 individual Chinese artists in Qingchengshan, Chengdu in southwest China.
Among these 8 artists, Wu Shanzhuan is the only conceptual artist whose work interpret or re-interpret our daily life stretched from early 80’s, the very beginning of Chinese contemporary art era.

In his 1000sm museum, a permanent exhibition will be installed chronologically along public viewing loop, which, has been transformed into the “Perfect Brackets”, an important symbol and philosophy of Wu. Thus the building will stand as a large scale installation containing architectural function and space.

On the viewing journey, visitors will find many art work exhibited in related functional spaces; for example, the “International Soup” is located in café and open kitchen, “The second hand water” first demonstrated the artists awareness of environmental issues and social responsibility will become a room for social activities such as seminars, with a view open to the river next to our site, “Showing China from best side” indicates the market and manufacture system which will combine with gift shop; Wu’s art is origined from many aspects of our daily life, this allows a space theme unifying art content and architecture functions, which becomes the unique curatorial strategy of this particular artist’s work.

A skylight window system is introduced like a zipper crossing over and magnified as glass walls at four joints of the “Perfect Brackets”, indicating indoor exhibition trajectory. Translucent green glass panels on the exterior surface will blur the edge between building and the foggy and green mountain environment.
