In year 2007, China Art Institute has programmed 8 museums for 8 individual Chinese artists in Qingchengshan, Chengdu in southwest China.
Among these 8 artists, Wu Shanzhuan is the only conceptual artist whose work interpret or re-interpret our daily life stretched from early 80’s, the very beginning of Chinese contemporary art era.

Master-of-Nets Garden (built 18th century onward)
The Master-of-the-Nets Garden, or Wang Shi Yuan, was first laid out during the Sung Dynasty (960-1279) but was later abandoned. It was “rediscovered” in the 18th century by a retired official who restored the gardens. Like many Confucian scholar-officials, he preferred the peace of nature to the wrangling of Court life. He is said to have remarked that he would rather be a fisherman than a bureaucrat. This is the origin of the garden’s name.

In designing the library, my purpose was to make people aware that they live between mountains and water, which is the garden style of Suzhou. Backed by a mountain full of bamboo in the north and facing a lake that used to be a disposed brickfield in the south, the slope site descends southward with a difference of four meter in the level. 1 The competition brief
The province of Guangdong and the municipalities of Guangzhou wish to build a new, prestigious congress centre to meet the considerable demand for international and national conferences, the extensive meetings of the provincial and municipal governments and the growing demand for commercial fairs and cultural manifestations.
In order to achieve the desired level of exposure and allure for the building, an international architectural competition was organized. Out of all the candidatures received, twelve local and international design teams were selected and invited to participate.
